ICE tried deporting a US-born Latino veteran.



ICE tried to deport a US-born Latino Veteran. The Latino Veteran is named Jilmar Ramos-Gomez, Jilmar was detained last December by the US customs or ICE. ICE accused him of trespassing charges. ICE and country officials accused Jilmar Ramos-Gomez of being an immigrant. Even though Jilmar showed his ID and his book passport and they still detained him. He was detained for three days and he was set to be deported, until his mother contacted an attorney to get him out of jail. He was found innocent. Police Captain Curtis VanderKooi served a twenty hour of unpaid suspension for arresting Jilmar Ramos-Gomez. Grand Rapids is where Jilmar grew up, and the city is paying a settlement of  $190,000 cause he was detained and he also served in Afghanistan for three years.
